Uninstalling getting message hddfancontroldaemon in use

If you are trying to uninstall HDD Fan Control and receiving the message: “hddfancontroldaemon in use”

You can download and run the uninstall script, you will be required to enter your administrator password.

Or to manually uninstall follow these instructions:

  1. You need to quit “HDDFanControlDaemon” and “HDD Fan Control Monitor” from Activity Monitor under “All Processes”
  2. Remove the following files and folders (both on your start disk):

    • /Library/StartupItems/HDDFanControlDaemon
    • /Library/PreferencePanes/HDD Fan Control.prefPane
    • /Applications/HDD Fan Control Monitor.app

You will be prompted for the Administrator’s password when deleting these items.
